Joshua House

...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

Joshua House 2.0 - A New Phase in the Ministry

Over twenty years ago Joshua House became a reality in Tucson, Arizona. Hundreds of lives have been impacted for positive change as we housed, counseled and educated men in need. Using a Christian based curriculum focusing on God first and recovery second, we found a balance that increased the client’s level of participation and increased the clients desire to become good fathers, son’s and husbands.

As society continues to evolve, so too does behavioral norms and what is, and what is not excepted in a functional society. What was once a client base of men willing to change negative behaviors, over time has become more violent, more entitled and less willing to humble themselves as a means of positive lifestyle corrections.

Most counselors working in this arena tend to “retire” as they age, leaving the client base to younger, more motivated clinician’s with less experience.

I believe the more practical route is to change one’s pulpit, passing the torch but remaining involved as just another aspect of doing good works. Perhaps guiding the next generation of both clients and counselors to levels of success once thought unattainable.

Joshua House 2.0 is a continuation of our original program just from a difference pulpit, a road less taken, but no less effective. Decades of running programs, we find that many have desire to engage and help those in need, but lack the experience and usually the finances to start up and make a program effective and viable.

After twenty plus years on the front line, we find ourselves in a more supervisory and consulting position as we seek to charitably gift to like minded programs. Without our financial, clinical and experiential involvement, many well intent programs will fail or become ineffective through lack of experience or lack of initial funding.

Considering these obstacles to success, Joshua House 2.0 will now dedicate financial help and program experiences as a means of growing or starting Christian based programs.

God’s word from Hebrews 13:16 says it all.

“ And do not forget to do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased”

Operating as Joshua House (1.0), well over a thousand men have gone through the program with positive outcomes in their lives - see Joshua House 1.0 below.

Joshua House 1.0 - Transitional Housing in Tucson - History

While Joshua House was one of many transitional living facilities in Tucson, our program was unique, as it offers its residents a safe place to live without crowding, on-site self-help meetings, with a Christian environment promoting an inner spiritual growth and faith which we believe is the center of a successful recovery.

Letting Go and Letting God, as they commit themselves to aiming towards a new life is the basis on which we operate daily. Our residents are taught to forgive themselves, leave the past behind and move forward to find peace and serenity in who they are, today, as they work their program from their hearts.

To date, well over a thousand men have gone through the Joshua House program with positive outcomes in their lives.
